COURSE OBJECTIVE
The objective of this course is provide knowledge and skills to effectively maintain building services which includes the mechanical, electrical and fire systems.

At the end of this course participants will have:
1. Knowledge of mechanical building services
2. Knowledge of electrical building services
3. Knowledge of fire building services.

DAY 1
9.00am Introduction & Ice-breaking Overview of the program
MODULE 1: COLD WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS - Processing and Distribution - Pipe connection to buildings and water meters - Internal Distribution - Valve Requirements - Water supply to high-rise buildings:
10.30am AM Break (15 mins) 10.45 am MODULE 2: HOT WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS - Centralised System - Additional Equipment Requirements - Solar Heating - Hot Water Storage Requirements
1.00pm LUNCH (1 hour) 2.00pm MODULE 3: VENTILATION REQUIREMENTS - Natural Ventilation Vs Mechanical Ventilation - Fan Requirements and Types of Fan - Filter Types - Ductwork
3.30pm PM Tea Break (15 mins) 3.45pm MODULE 4: AIR-CONDITIONING PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES - System Requirement, operation, design and health considerations - Maintenance Practices Requirement

9.00am MODULE 5: LOW TENSION POWER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM - Different types of distribution systems: Background, supply and local distribution
10.30am AM Break (15 mins) 10.45am MODULE 6: SHORT CIRCUIT AND OVERLOAD PROTECTION - Short circuit protection: Bonding and grounding standards - Overload protection: Consumer unit (fuses, circuit breakers, MCCB’s, ELCB’s and MCB’s characteristics and application) - Cables: Types of protection, cable rating and cable sizing - Lighting circuits: Three methods of adopting wiring lights - Power sockets: Standard circuits - Fixed appliances installation requirements
1.00pm LUNCH (1 hour) 2.00pm MODULE 7: ELECTRICAL BUILDING INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS - Three-Phase installation for: · Low-rise offices · Factory premises with and without power sub metres · High rise offices: Vertical busbar trunking layout · Commercial multi-storey buildings · Temporary supplies for buildings - Central heating wiring diagram - Extra low-voltage lighting - Installation testing
3.30pm PM Tea Break (15 mins) 3.45pm MODULE 8: FIRE PREVENTION AND PROTECTION PRACTICES - Laws and requirements - Prevention methods - Maintenance practices based on technical specifications

Ir. Majid is a professional engineer with 28 years of experience and a Certified Professional Trainer with the International Professional Managers (IPMA,UK) as well as Human Resources Development Corp’s certified trainer. He is a Certified Energy Manager with ASEAN Centre for Energy, Certified Planning Engineer and a Licensed Financial Planner.
Starting out as an electrical maintenance engineer in a steel plant in Penang, he has acquired valuable experience electrical maintenance, electrical safety, factory maintenance and supervision. He had also worked as an electrical consultant designing electrical services for factories, hospital, schools and high-rise buildings.
