    Please call 012-588 2728

     email to pearl-otc@outlook.com

    PUBLIC PROGRAM

    NEGOTIATION SKILLS:

THE PSYCHOLOGY OF PERSUASION & NEGOTIATION

FOR MANAGER & LEADERS USING NLP

Venue : AC Hotel by Marriott Penang            (SBL Khas / HRD Corp Claimable Course)

    Date :    24 Sept 2025 (Wed)  |  9am – 5pm                            By Daniel

    25 Sept 2025 (Thu)  |  9am – 5pm                       .      .

    INTRODUCTION:

We are persuading and negotiating with others almost all the time in our daily work activities. Whether with business partners, clients, suppliers, colleagues or even family members, the success of our outcomes depends entirely on our understanding of the negotiation and communication process. When engaged in negotiations where your skill, as a smart negotiator and manager, may prevent losses, increase gains or enhance circumstances for you or your organization, it is imperative that you invest in your capability to:

    Prepare effectively

Clearly understand the various personality types and their tendencies in Negotiation

Understand the needs & interests of all parties involved

Conclude better Win-Win agreements through creativity

Identify potential barriers or hindrances to the engagement

Adopt a collaborative approach to ensuring trust, rapport and long term gains

There is also a growing awareness that conflict at all levels in society is not always best resolved through force and coercion. What is needed is an increased ability on the part of leaders to develop successful outcomes through influence and persuasion rather than coercion and heavy-handed tactics. In addition, more than ever before, individuals need to be able to influence others on a 360-degree basis rather than just those individuals who report to them. This program will equip your executives and managers with vital skills to help in those processes. The course material is based on sound psychological approaches to negotiation, which include an understanding of personality, motivation and intelligence. The more practical and scientifically proven approaches of NLP (or Neuro Linguistic Psychology) and the development of rapport skills are also covered.

    OBJECTIVES:

By the end of the course you will be able to:

Evaluate the essential psychological aspects of a range of approaches to influencing others and negotiating positive win/win outcomes

Apply the principles of a number of well-researched influence models in NLP

Develop and apply practical methods for effective win/win outcomes within your own organization.

Secure faster deals through powerful non-verbal techniques of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)

Utilize NLP reframes to turn impending objections into a winning outcome

Persuade and close with a difference – where they can’t say ‘No’

    WHO MUST ATTEND:

Leaders and managers in middle management, purchasing and sales roles who want to increase their understanding of the psychological aspects of getting the best out of other people within their organization and as well as working out the best win-win deals with suppliers, contractors or customers. It is also suitable for HR professionals in selection and development posts.

Advance level course - for those wishing to develop existing skills/knowledge to a more advanced level in negotiation.

    METHODOLOGY:

In this experiential training, the training facilitator adopts a coaching and facilitative approach. It is very important to engage the participants in reviewing their own outcome.

The activities are designed to illustrate key issues or challenges that the participants are facing in selling/persuading by using NLP tools to create illustrations and activities such as role plays, mind exercises and group discussions.

Welcome to the latest edition of the CEO Shortlist, a biweekly newsletter of our best ideas for the C-suite. This week, we explore 100 years of quantum mechanics and the ongoing great trade rearrangement among global powers. You can reach us with thoughts and ideas at Alex Panas and Axel Karlsson. Thank you, as ever.

Quantum mechanics is 100 years old. And it’s only gaining momentum. Last year was the hottest on record for three uses of quantum—computing, communication, and sensing—by orders of magnitude. In a new report, McKinsey Partner Henning Soller and coauthors show how surging investment and accelerating innovation could generate nearly $100 billion in revenue worldwide by 2035.

Global trade tectonics are shifting. If tariffs persist, US imports from China may decrease dramatically. This stands to impact everything from Christmas décor to semiconductors and lithium-ion batteries. For more, check out a new report from the McKinsey Global Institute on what our experts have called the “great trade rearrangement.”

We hope you find these ideas inspiring and insightful. See you in a couple of weeks with more McKinsey ideas for the CEO and others in the C-suite.

Creating an index is easy. Nearly every developer has created or used an index at some point, whether directly or indirectly. But knowing what to index is only one part of the equation. The more difficult question is understanding how the index works underneath.

Indexing isn’t a surface-level optimization. It’s a problem of data structures. The way an index organizes, stores, and retrieves data directly shapes the performance of read and write operations. Different data structures behave differently.

    • Some may excel at range scans.

    • Some are optimized for exact-match lookups.

    • Others are purpose-built for full-text search or geospatial queries.

These decisions affect everything from query planning to I/O patterns to the amount of memory consumed under load.

When a query slows down or a system starts struggling with disk I/O, the index structure often sits at the heart of the issue. A poorly chosen index format can lead to inefficient access paths, unnecessary bloat, or slow inserts. Conversely, a well-aligned structure can turn a brute-force scan into a surgical lookup.

In this article, we will cover the core internal data structures that power database indexes. Each section will walk through how the structure works, what problems it solves, where it performs best, and what limitations it carries.

The Role of Index Structures in Query Execution...

Victorian mail sorters: Delivery without postal codes

It’s hard to imagine postal deliveries without postal systems or automated sorting hubs. Back in Victorian times, the mail system relied entirely on human skill, and some of it was impressive.

Postal clerks worked with wooden sorting frames holding up to 48 boxes.

And get this: some could sort up to 30 letters per minute, all based on memory.

That’s 1,800 letters an hour, without a postal code in sight.

They trained for months, memorising thousands of delivery routes to keep the system running smoothly.

This level of precision helped build the foundation for today’s location-based sorting.

While we’ve come a long way, it’s fun to look back and appreciate the brainpower that came before the algorithms. Follow us on LinkedIn for more geographical facts like this!

    Kind regards,

How to seek continuous improvement and innovation

In the previous session, we looked at how teams can leverage clear communication skills to reap the ongoing benefits of their problem-solving efforts. In this sixth email, we emphasize the importance of innovation and continued improvement when faced with obstacles, change, and uncertainty.

You’ve solved your problem. You’ve presented results and suggestions for implementation. Chances are, you’re faced with pushback, requests to consider new factors in the equation, or an ask to solve something else entirely. At all stages of problem solving, it’s critical to practice “dual awareness,” or the integrated awareness of external and internal environments and how they affect each other. Senior partner Aaron De Smet and coauthors write that, with this awareness, team leaders can act with intention and perform at their best no matter what is going on.

Discover insights about innovation, continuous improvement, and resilience, all of which are key factors to problem solving while navigating significant change.
